Snapchat sexting, a name for sexual texting, has been a controversial topic lately, from concerned parents to finding Snapchat sexting usernames online, I will cover the entire spectrum. There are very different opinions on the nature of Snapchat sexting, the prevalence of teens sexting and what Snapchat is mostly used for. I will try to present an unbiased opinion on Snapchat sexting, users sharing their Snapchat username or name on Snapchat sexting forums, and parenting tips for Snapchat sexting.
Is Snapchat meant for sexting
Snapchat founders are adamant that Snapchat was not built or intended to be used as a sexting app or in any way sexual. They insist that the main purpose of Snapchat is the ephemeral nature of the images and videos allowing the user to limit their digital footprint, if you will. It allows the user to share pictures and video with friends but without them being permanently in the digital sphere.
Noting that, what is the difference between sharing a picture via text message and via Snapchat, and does this encourage sexting? There are two basic differences between texting and using Snapchat. One is that cell phone companies charge for text messages, whereas Snapchat is via your internet connection, therefore could be free or cost significantly less money per message. The second difference is that Snaps are deleted automatically. Whether this encourages sexting is a good question and one I don’t think anyone can answer. But my hunch is that, yes, it does encourage sexting. I don’t believe it makes people want to send inappropriate images, but if they already want to and are afraid of the consequences of their photo being saved on someone’s phone or uploaded online, Snapchat is perceived as a safer option than texting.
Do teens take part in Snapchat sexting?
Some fraction of Snapchat users sext, I can guarantee it. However, I don’t think this is the majority or even more than a small fraction of users. I believe Snapchat taps into a sense of surprise and that is why it is commonly used over texting. When opening a Snapchat you don’t know what the photo will be, which makes it exciting to both send and receive.
If you believe your teen is sexting on Snapchat, the best course of action is to have an honest and open discussion with them. Like most difficult things in life, it is good to tackle these things with an open discussion. If necessary, there are privacy settings where you can block Snapchat on an iPhone or Android, but this may not solve the problem as your teen can most likely find ways to continue inappropriate behavior.
Finding Snapchat sexting usernames
From research online, it appears theres a group of Snapchat users that find usernames or Snapchat names to sext with online. It’s common for Snapchat sexting forums to be filled with Snapchat usernames as well as on Tumblr, who are sometimes looking to just connect, but sometimes looking to sext. It is difficult to say the ages of these Snapchat users or of their full intentions.Can Snapchat sexting be caught
The answer is yes. There are many companies out there that can recover old Snaps from your phone’s memory. The snaps are not fully deleted and can be recovered using outside companies. I’m sure it will not be long until anyone can download a program and restore Snapchat sexts on anyone’s phone. Also, there is nothing stopping the receiver from saving your Snap by taking a screenshot. However, Snapchat will alert you that the person took a screenshot of your Snap.
